Everything worth knowing
Build the complete travel budget
| Cost layer | What to include | What to clarify |
|---|---|---|
| Reach the start | Flights or rail, arrival transfers, buffer night | Is this inside the land-package price? |
| Land package | Rooming, route transport, listed meals | Same service basis for every quote |
| Personal choices | Extra meals, activities, shopping | Optional rather than assumed included |
The currently announced group price

The 28 November 2026 departure is ₹11,999 per person on triple sharing or ₹14,500 on double sharing. Both follow the same six-day, five-night route from Gorakhpur. Triple sharing may use an extra bed or mattress; confirm the actual room layout. Applicable taxes, if any, are disclosed before payment.
Build your own extras allowance
Lunches, the first breakfast, the final dinner, tickets, boat rides, local shuttles and personal purchases sit outside that fare. So do travel to Gorakhpur, a possible buffer hotel night and insurance. Activity choices vary, so no invented universal daily-spend figure is shown here.
Why a private trip has a different price
The vehicle and driver costs are shared across your own group, not a full departure. Room count, hotel category, season and the number of vehicle days also change the total. Compare quotations with the same dates, route and inclusions; otherwise a cheaper figure may describe a different holiday.
Check the payment and cancellation basis

Ask whether the cancellation percentage applies to the full package or only the advance. Check what happens if the organiser cannot operate the group. An itemised written quote is more useful than a verbal assurance that everything is included.
A six-part way to compare written quotations
Use the same dates and room occupancy, then compare six cost headings.
Accommodation: record the number of nights, hotel category, room type and breakfast basis. Transport: record pickup and final drop, vehicle scope, border changes and charges. Meals: count actual included breakfasts, lunches and dinners rather than relying on a general meals included label.
Sightseeing: list admission fees, local guides and optional activities individually. Personal spending: allow for meals outside the plan, purchases and other choices you control. Booking conditions: compare advance payment, cancellation deductions and the treatment of itinerary changes.
This method also helps distinguish a low advertised starting rate from the cost for your actual group. Ask for a revised total when occupancy, dates or vehicle needs change. Keep the final quotation with the itinerary so the agreed services are easy to check during the trip.
Make a like-for-like comparison sheet
Put each quotation against the same rooming list: adults, child ages, double or twin preference, extra beds and any single rooms. Then compare hotel nights, meal counts, vehicle days, pickup and final drop. A per-person total without an occupancy basis is incomplete.
Separate unavoidable extras from discretionary purchases. Lunches and excluded site tickets needed for your chosen visits are different from souvenirs or an optional adventure activity. Ask which amounts are paid to the desk and which are paid locally.
Check what changes when the party changes

If one traveller drops out, the shared vehicle and room cost may be redistributed. Ask for the revised total rather than subtracting one published per-person amount. Conversely, adding someone may require a larger vehicle or a different room arrangement.
For a private proposal, request the total, per-person equivalent, validity, deposit and cancellation basis together. The smallest headline amount is useful only when its service scope suits the journey you actually want.
Build a total for the party, then divide it
Start with the actual party: adult count, child ages, rooming and whether anyone needs a single room. Add the quoted land services first, then travel from home, excluded meals, tickets and chosen activities. Divide the resulting total only after checking that every traveller’s needs are represented. A headline per-person price is a starting point, not a complete family budget.
For a private road tour, vehicle cost is shared across the party while room cost follows the rooming plan. Adding one guest may require another room, a different vehicle or both. This is why a four-person rate cannot always be scaled by simple multiplication. Ask for a revised total whenever the group changes.
Compare two quotations without comparing different holidays
Use a simple worksheet with the same dates and traveller count in both columns. Record hotel nights, actual room occupancy, meals by day, route coverage, guide service, attraction tickets and optional activities. Mark unclear items as questions. Do not treat an unanswered line as included merely because the brochure uses the phrase complete package.
Then compare the timing. A five-night route with a late arrival and early departure provides different usable time from five full visiting days. A Chitwan hotel night is also different from an included wildlife programme. Two prices may both be honestly described while covering materially different experiences.
Budget for preferences instead of unexpected upgrades

List the preferences that would make you change the booking: hotel location, heating, air conditioning, private bathrooms, a particular rooming arrangement or a less crowded travel schedule. Ask for them before accepting the lowest plan. If you already know that an extra mattress will not suit your group, an inexpensive triple-sharing quote is not a useful saving.
Keep optional spending visible. Boating, cable cars, extra visits, shopping and additional meals depend on the route and individual choice. A contingency is sensible, but it should not be used to hide an incomplete inclusion list. Ask whether taxes and mandatory supplier fees are already included in the final payable amount.
Payment timing affects the booking decision
The amount payable now, the balance date and the amount at risk on cancellation are different figures. Read all three before paying. A small initial deposit does not necessarily mean the cancellation charge is limited to that deposit. Private tours follow their accepted terms; the published group schedule should not be silently applied to another product.
For foreign-currency quotations, agree the payment currency and how any conversion is handled. Keep airline purchases and supplier commitments itemised when they carry separate conditions. A good cost comparison shows the total and the commitment schedule, rather than only the attractive first instalment.
